Gianandrea Noseda conducts two casts including such singers as Lianna Haroutounian and Christopher Maltman in David Bösch’s new production of Verdi’s searing opera. Il trovatore is a rollercoaster ride through competing passions, battling armies, the force of fate and the revelation of deadly consequences. This new production by David Bosch, who makes his UK debut with the Royal Opera, puts the story foremost in striking and evocative settings that combine the brutal and the poetic in a contemporary landscape scarred by civil war. Gianandrea Noseda conducts two principal casts of internationally acclaimed singers, many of them familiar from previous leading roles with The Royal Opera. This is a tour de force of an opera in story and sound, which draws on the complement of the Royal Opera Chorus and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
